Linkage Click here to stop the newest threat to Internet freedom
A new global treaty could allow corporations to police what we do on the Internet. Last week we successfully pushed back the US censorship bills — if we act now, we can get the EU Parliament to bury this new threat — add your voice now!
The ACTA is hardly a “new” threat to the internet. The SOPA/PIPA bills were just little offcuts from ACTA. ACTA is the big one to worry about.
Me and a couple of friends have been discussing this and came across the ACTA a couple of months ago. Pharmaceutical companies are greatly backing this one, and that is largely due to the poor health care system in America. Buying medicine is stupidly expensive. So what people have been doing, is buying the same medicine for a lot less cheaper in Canada, and then getting it shipped to America.
The 1% is losing money over this. Complete and utter corporate greed.
The worst thing about this is that the ACTA until now, was kept pretty quiet and under the table. The people of Poland recently protested against it, and sadly I have to say that Australia has already signed the treaty.
Signed in October 2011. There was NO such coverage or awareness of it.
How. Fucking. Sneaky.
